There wasn't a cloud in the sky, and what had been a beautiful day had turned into an even more enchanting night. A pair of brilliant blue eyes happened to be gazing up at the decent speckling of stars across the night sky. Hayden let out a sigh as he shifted his position on the hood of his car. He couldn't help but recall that while this night was pretty, it didn't even compare to any of the starry skies from back home..well, his real home that is. The loud buzzing of a cell phone interrupted his reminiscent thoughts. He didn't even bother to look at who it was. He knew it was his stepmother, Paige. She was calling to find out where he was, as per usual. Hay didn't even know why she tried acting like a parent to him. He didn't see her as an authority figure, and never would.
Hayden took a swig from a water bottle he had next to him, and though the contents were clear, they were most certainly not water. No, Hayden wasn't drinking himself to oblivion. He was just having a bit of vodka because.. well.. because he could. He would probably be here in the school parking lot for another three hours or so, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal in terms of driving home. And if he was really concerned, he would just spend the night in his car.
Another sigh escaped his lips as he reached over and tossed the now empty bottle into his car. The small amount of alcohol was kicking in, and he could feel the warmth start in his chest and make its way towards his feet. Any random passerby may have wondered what he was doing in a parking lot at midnight, but the truth was there wasn't any real reason besides the fact he enjoyed the time alone, away from his "family". Hayden began to hum under his breath a unrecognizable tune as he put his hands behind his head, stretching his triceps in the process. Yes. It was midnight, and yes he would probably be out until three in the morning. This was the way Hayden operated. Taking every opportunity to seize the small freedom he had. In this case, it was just him, laying, humming to himself while looking up.

Marley let out a small sigh as she pulled up to the school parking lot. The night had gone from bad to worse, all because of a little visit from Griff Tannen. He normally wasn’t all too bad, or at least to Marley he wasn’t, but since he showed up at her house, Marty was around. And since Marty was around, Griff did what he did best. He bullied the hell out of him. Though Marty and herself have their high and low points, he was still her brother, and she just could not stand the way Griff was treating him.
Their little meeting ended with her asking her father to take his car out to go for a drive. Normally, he wouldn’t let her, since It was close to midnight, but one thing her father did better than anyone was that he understood her. Marley had bid Griff farewell, and the she’d probably see him in school the next day, and took off. She didn’t know whether or not he stuck around, nor did she care. What she really cared about was having time for her self, even though it happened to be midnight. Marley couldn’t help but think how she would react to Griff tomorrow, should she stick up to him? Or just blow off whatever he did like normal? She was getting tired of his shit, but then again, it was Griff. He annoyed everyone, and talked down to people like it was his job.
So, that’s how she landed in the school parking lot at midnight. There weren’t very many places to go, though her first choice was the mall, until she thought about how all the stalkers go there at this hour. The only “safe” place it seemed was the high school. Marley stopped the car, and just sat there for a few moments. She just thought about things, about what she was going to do with her life. Nothing seemed to make sense anymore. Marley peered over the almost empty parking lot, when she saw a familiar car. Hayden…
Marley hopped out of the car, shivering slightly. She was wearing a red “HILL VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL” hoodie, a pair of jeans and boots. She made her way over to his car with ease, and leaned up against it. ”Escaping the family as usual?” [/size]

Hayden's gaze locked on to a small but bright object that soared across the sky. Many people may have thought it was an air plane, or a shooting star. But Hayden could tell from the speed, size and path in the sky that it was most likely a satellite. It was a brilliant sight, even if it was a hunk of metal hurtling through space at 17,000 miles per hour. It never ceased to amaze him that things could be moving so fast. For example, the Earth, at that very moment, was turning at about 1000 miles per hour. Yet he felt nothing. And to be honest it felt as though time for him was moving even slower than that. He just wanted to be done with school. Get out of his house and live his own life.
He could feel his heartbeat quicken as he felt his frustration rise. Paige could never be his mother. He even told her that, yet she still kept trying to fit her self into the void. It wasn't going to work. And little boy Jason wasn't going to replace his sister either. For a brief moment, Hayden felt like punching something, but the moment he heard a familiar voice, the urge vanished and his racing heartbeat calmed.
”Escaping the family as usual?”
Hayden didn't even need to turn around to know that the voice belonged to Marley McFly. A small smile crept to his lips. She always seemed to know what was bothering him, and yet she never asked him why he was the way he was. Never asked him why he despised his stepmother so much.
"How could you guess?" He asked, his tone almost playful. He sat up a bit and slid over a bit so there was more room on the hood, and he patted on it with his left hand. "You're up late...But have a seat anyway." He stated, a friendly, teasing tone evident in his voice. He turned, smiling at his friend. His only female friend that he hadn't made a move on yet to be completely honest.

Marley grinned; it wasn’t too hard to guess why he was here. I mean, everyone needed an escape from their family once in a while, though it seemed that Hayden needed to get away more than she normally did. ”Uhm, I’m psychic. Duh,” She replied, as she hopped up onto the roof off his car. Marley felt slightly more at ease than how she was feeling when she first pulled up, it was nice to be with a friend who didn’t get on her nerves.
She had always liked Hayden’s company, he just seemed a little different than the guys at his school. I mean, sometimes he did. Hay was a flirt, like all the rest, but she could actually talk to him without him making things awkward. I happen to be here for the same reason as you,” Marley said, gazing up at the stars. ”Griff came over, and Marty was home…so yeah, it didn’t end very well,” she explained, because she was never afraid to speak her mind. Unlike Hayden, who liked to keep things to himself and barely ever let anyone into his thoughts.
Marley did respect that somewhat, so she tried to never pry with him, because their friendship was to valuable for her here to screw up. ”And so, here I am, in the school parking lot at midnight,” She laughed softly, because she had never thought she would be saying those words. ”I honestly didn’t think anyone would be here though,” Marley turned to look at him and smiled.
”But I guess I was wrong. She folded her arms across her chest and gazed up at the sky again. Marley had never seen a night like this in Hill Valley, normally at this hour she would be locked in her room doing homework or listening to music. Though, this seemed a lot more peaceful than that.
