history
Hayden was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He lived a normal, peaceful childhood. With his mother and father, and baby sister, Olivia. He would play outside until the stars came out, and his father would be right there with him, playing catch, football..whatever Hayden wanted. His mother would sit on the porch, with little Olivia fast asleep on her lap. This picture perfect family experience tragedy when Hayden was 14 years old. His mother had been driving Olivia home from a Girl Scout meeting on a summer evening. It had been pouring rain all afternoon and the road conditions were terrible. Hayden's mother knew she had to play it safe, knew that it didn't matter how long it took for her to get home, as long as they got home safe.
But it didn't matter what his mother had thought, because the pickup truck going 50 miles per our around a blind curve didn't feel the same way. Hayden's father had gotten the call at 7:00pm. His wife and daughter were in the hospital. It was a long night spent in the hospital. And Hayden spent the whole time with his head in his hands. His world.. his life had been shattered. The sad glances from the nurses from time to time didn't make Hay feel any better. And after that longest night, Hayden's life would never be the same. His mother and sister had passed away within a half hour of each other. Each from multiple head injuries and internal bleeding. The funeral was quiet. And though Hayden hadn't noticed it at the time, but he had started to change within.
A year after the incident, Hayden's father had met a young woman who was visiting family in Charlotte, and within 3 months, they were engaged. The woman had been from Hill Valley California, and Hayden's father had decided it would be best if they left Charlotte, and started their new life as a family in CA. Hayden's grades had began to plummet, so it seemed like a good choice to get some positive change in Hay's life. Hayden was not thrilled about the wedding, and he was even less excited when he found out that his new stepmother, who was only 13 years older than him, was pregnant. And Hayden's father had been wrong. Hay wouldn't react positively to the change... In fact, it accelerated the negative changes to Hayden's personality that had began the day of Hayden's mother's funeral.
So now Hayden is 18, ready to graduate and get out on his own, away from his stepmother who he disliked so much. Hayden's father doesn't know what to do about his son's reckless behavior, and has begun to put all of his parenting efforts into his baby boy, Jackson, who is 2 and half years old. Hayden wants his full freedom back, like the days he played outside until the stars twinkled in the sky.
role play sampleThe sound of wind whipping past her just covered ears was the only thing she could hear. Around her was white, everywhere, as far as she could see. Her heart pounded as she looked at the slope in front of her. Little black dots were making their way down, their position obvious on the white expanse. Kendra glanced around; her eyes falling upon the cozy lodge nestled on the summit, as if there was no better place for it to be. For a brief moment all she wanted to do was go back inside and drink a cup of hot cocoa. But as soon as she remembered that what she was about to do was supposed to be fun, she glanced back at the slope. A rather large snowflake managed to fly straight into her eye, causing her to wince uncomfortably. Alright. It was time.
Kendra gently pulled her goggles over her eyes, and waited for everything to stop being blue from the tint as she got used to the added apparel. She bent down to clip her boot into the bindings of her snowboard, ducking her head down to avoid the constant blasting of flurries. It wasn't like it was snowing very hard; the wind was just so damn strong. Finally, after what seemed like hours but was really around a minute, Kendra hopped slowly away from the more flat snow, and onto the slope. At the moment before gravity took control of her, Kend realized how she should have done more than one practice run on the smaller 'bunny' trails. This was her first time snowboarding ever, and she thought that she could just ride on up to the summit and take on a black diamond with no more than 20 minutes of practice under her belt. A pit started to form in her stomach in those few moments, but when she began to gain speed as she started down the side of the mountain, the pit exploded into a thousand bits of pure adrenaline.
She was off. And it was the greatest rush she had ever felt in her life. Her heart was pounding not from anxiety, but from excitement. Heel, toe...heel toe. She thought to herself as she carved down the slope. At first the motions felt rigid and robotic, but once she let her inhibitions go, it just felt so natural. Any care she had had was gone. All that existed was Kendra, her board and the mountain. She smiled to herself as she let the excitement explode into energy. How could she have gone so long without trying out a snowboard? It was pure bliss. Bliss that would end as soon as she got down to the bottom of the run. But then again, that's what chairlifts were for: continuing the rush. She could just hop back on and go right back up again. And when she did she would scoff at the lodge on the summit; it served no purpose now. She was having a blast, and was without a care.
Her mind focused back onto the slope ahead of her as she saw a divide in the trail she was on. She needed to go the correct way if she was going to end up at the bottom of the right run. She quickly made a turn to the left, towards the trail that was on the correct path. As she did the abrupt turn, she felt herself lose her balance. With a change in how she stood, she managed to gain her balance once more and avoid a nasty and embarrassing fall. Kendra glanced back at the slope and noticed that she was no longer way up on the summit, but actually closer to the base of the mountain. The end was near, but Kend wasn't going to let that thought spoil her fun. The trail she was on dipped a bit before climbing up slightly, and when she came over the peak of that small dip, without thinking, she jumped while bending her knees up. For a few amazing seconds she was airborne. The wind whipped her exposed cheeks, but Kendra didn't care. She landed almost gracefully after the short time she spent in the air and her heart was beating so fast she almost thought she would have a heart attack.
She flew down the rest of the trail with a smile plastered across her face and upon reaching the bottom, she turned towards a spot on the side, and came to a stop. She had been going a bit too fast, and her momentum carried her forward. Trying to compensate she leaned a bit backwards, but this time she didn't maintain her balance. Her bottom hit the snow softly, and she was thankful for the comfort padding of the snow pants. Her eyes fell upon a familiar face as she sat in the snow, and she couldn't help but giggle. "That... was amazing..." She said, as she moved her goggles off her eyes and onto her forehead "How can I ever go back to skiing after a rush like that?" She asked him, thankful he had brought her along. She was still smiling, not regretting a moment of her decision to try snowboarding.
